Vern Paulsen
Vern Paulsen is the recipient of the 2007/2008 University of Houston Teaching Excellence Award and of Western Michigan University's Distinguished Alumnus Award in Mathematics.
Paulsen combines his teaching excellence with a strong research program. He has published over 80 research articles, written four books and has been continuously funded by the National Science Foundation since 1983. He is frequently an invited speaker at national and international meetings. Since 2000, he has made over a dozen supported trips to foreign countries to give invited talks. In one 18 month period, he was an invited speaker at Canada's Banff International Research Station in three different areas of research: signal representation theory, quantum information theory, and non-commutative harmonic analysis.
