The road to equal-norm Parseval frames

August 31, 2009
4pm, 646 PGH

Abstract

The construction of equal-norm Parseval frames is fundamental for many applications of frame theory. Central to this talk is the question: How close is a nearly equal-norm, nearly Parseval frame to an equal-norm Parseval frame? In order to find such a distance estimate, we study a flow for Parseval frames based on a system of ordinary differential equations. The flow converges sufficiently fast so that a distance estimate can be shown if the dimension of the Hilbert space and the number of frame vectors are relatively prime (joint work with Pete Casazza).
