Non-signaling boxes, operator systems and Connes's embedding conjecture
Friday, September 13 1pm, 646 PGH
Abstract
This is a 2 part talk and is an expanded version of a talk that I gave earlier in this seminar. Part one, which is a beamer talk,
gives an overview of the historical background, including an explanation of non-signaling boxes and the role played by non-signaling
boxes in the development of quantum physics.
We then explain Tsirelson's still unresolved claims about the non-signaling boxes that are the outcomes of quantum experiments.
We describe the work of Junge et al, and more recently, Ozawa, that shows the connections with Connes's embedding conjecture.
Part 2 in the following week will be more technical and shows the role that tensor products
of operator systems play in describing this work.
