Stable Ranks for Real H

September 26, 2008 (FRIDAY!)
4pm, 646 PGH

Abstract

Real H is the subset of H on the disc that has the property that the function is real on the real axis. In this talk we will discuss the Bass and Topological Stable ranks of this algebra. We will show that the Bass and Topological Stable rank of this algebra is 2, which settles a conjecture of S. Treil. This concepts have applications to the Corona Problem and Control Theory.
