A/D Conversion with Imperfect Quantizers: Beta-type Encoders
April 26, 3pm; 646 PGH
Abstract
It is a common occurrence in practice the need for scalar encoding schemes
that can recover from quantizer errors, that also have fast rates of convergence.
Recently, DeVore et al. introduced the beta-encoding scheme, that has this type of
robustness under certain general conditions. In this talk we will explore this
scheme's properties, as well as some modifications to the same that have been
obtain on the last few years. In particular: Golden ratio encoders, beta-alpha encoders and sign-beta encoders.
