Degree Plan - Effective: Fall 2008
Admission requirements for the Mathematics Program are the same as the university admission requirements. Applications can be downloaded from the UH Admissions Web Site.
Mathematics students must have overall GPAs of at least 2.0. Students whose GPAs in mathematics courses fall below 2.5 may be advised to consider changing majors.
Students who do not initially declare mathematics as their major must submit a petition to the Department of Mathematics if they decide later to change their major to mathematics.
Prerequisite Checking
The Mathematics Department is now strictly enforcing the prerequisites for its undergraduate courses. Students who do not have the prerequisites will be dropped by the course instructor. Please check the current catalogue for prerequisites before you attempt to enroll in an undergraduate mathematics course.
The general requirements, including university core curriculum and college requirements, shall apply. By virtue of the interdisciplinary nature of the program, students who complete the requirements for the B.S. degree in Mathematical Biology have satisfied the capstone requirement of the College of Natural Science and Mathematics. Academic advising for students pursuing the Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Biology is provided by the Office of the Dean.
Students who choose to major in Mathematical Biology must complete the following requirements in addition to the special requirements for the Bachelor of Science degree:
