Examinations: There will be three Exams and a comprehensive Final Exam. The exams will be administered at CASA. You are responsible for scheduling the exams before taking them.
Quizzes: There will be two
types of
quizzes: (1) ‘In-class’ quizzes given at random times, and (2) weekly
online quizzes
administrated online through CourseWare. You will take the Courseware quizzes
online at www.casa.uh.edu. Each quiz will be available for one week and
you may repeat the quizzes as many times as you want as long as they
are
available. Only the highest score on each quiz will be saved. Note that
online
quizzes re-open before each one of the three exams and the final exam
and it is
a great opportunity to raise your score. The ‘In-class’ quizzes
consists of (a)
10-min. quizzes that will be given at random times in the classroom,
(b)
take-home quizzes and (c) homework assignments that you will hand in
class. Please come to every class to
keep up with the ‘In-class’ quizzes and relevant announcements. Please
write clearly and staple all pages of
your work, otherwise your work cannot be accepted.
Both
‘In-class’
and online quizzes will be part of your grade in the course.
Homework: There will be homework
assignments posted online.
Homework will not be collected. Some homework
problems will be
selected to be part of the ‘In-class’ quizzes. These assignments are
made in
class and will not be posted online. Also, I strictly recommend that
you do the
homework, since the quizzes and exams will be based on similar
problems. The assignments are posted . The answers of the odd problems are
available here.
