Exams

There will be three exams and a comprehensive final exam. The exams will be administered at CASA.


Quizzes

There will be two types of quizzes: (1) In-class quizzes given at random times, and (2) weekly quizzes on CourseWare. You will take the Courseware quizzes online at www.casa.uh.edu. The on-line quizzes will be part of your grade in the course. Each quiz will be available for one week. You can repeat the quiz as many times as you want; only the highest score will be saved.


Grading

   300 points   determined by exams 1, 2 and 3 (100 points each);
   100 points   determined by quizzes [WebCT (50%) and in-class (50%)].
   200 points   determined by the final exam.
   600 points   total

A: 540 - 600, B: 480 - 539, C: 420 - 479, etc.


Help

(1) Office hours and by appointment.

(2) The Department of Mathematics has a mathematics laboratory (MathLab), located in 222 Garrison. MathLab has student tutors who, on a walk-in basis, offer help with individual problems.


Attendance and other course policies

Attendance will be taken at the discretion of the instructor. Failure to attend class, or to take quizzes and/or exams, are grounds for dismissal from the course.

Calculators are not allowed in the exams or the in-class quizzes, but may be used for your homework.

Any other policy issues that may arise will be communicated to you by your instructor.
