Nonlinear finite element approximation of PDE's in $L^1$

Abstract: A nonlinear finite element technique for approximating PDE's in $L^1$ will be presented. Theoretical a priori and a posteriori estimates for linear PDE's will be derived. Preliminary results on overdetermined transport equations and Hamilton Jacobi equations will be presented as well.
