There will be three exams and a comprehensive final exam. Exams will be given at CASA.
There will be two types of quizzes: (1) In-class quizzes given at random times, and (2) weekly quizzes on-line on CourseWare. Each quiz will be available for one week. You can repeat the quiz as many times as you want; only the highest score will be saved.
300 points determined by exams 1, 2 and 3 (100 points
each);
100 points determined by quizzes (in-class and
online).
200 points determined by the final
exam.
600 points total
A: 540 - 600, B: 480 - 539,
C: 420 - 479, etc.
The Department of Mathematics has a mathematics laboratory (MathLab), located in 222 Garrison. MathLab has student tutors who, on a walk-in basis, offer help with individual problems.
Attendance is required. Your final grade will be lowered one step (A to A-, B+ to B, etc.) for each absence in excess of three.
Calculators are not allowed for the exams or the in-class quizzes, but may be used for your homework.
