Natural Science Core Courses for Math Majors

 

 

 

Note*: Not all NS core courses posted on the Core Curriculum site may be taken by Math majors. These are the NS core courses that you must choose from.

 

 

Biol (1361, 1161), (1362, 1162) OR (1431 & 1432)[1]

 

Chem (1331, 1111) & (1332­, 1112)[2]

 

Geol (1330, 1130), (1376, 1176), 1340, 3377, 3378

 

Phys (1321, 1121), (1322, 1122) OR (1301, 1101), (1302, 1102)[3],

Phys 1305, 1306, 3378

 

Natural Science Core Requirements for Math Majors:

 

B.A. Degree Objective: 7 hours of Natural Science Core courses that must include one lab. All 7 hours MUST be in the same discipline (subject). Ex: Geol 1330, 1130, 1376

 

B.S. Degree Objective: 14 hours of Natural Science Core courses that must include two labs. At least 8 hours MUST be in the same discipline (subject). The other 6 hours do not require a lab and do not need to be in the same discipline. Ex: Chem 1331, 1111, 1332, 1112, Biol 1361, Phys 1321.



[1] Biol 1361, 1161 was formerly Biol 1431; Biol 1362, 1162 was formerly 1432.

[2] In order to receive credit for the lecture, the lab must be taken.

[3] Credit canŐt be given for both Phys (1321, 1121) & Phys (1301, 1101). This same rule applies to Phys (1322, 1122) & Phys (1302,1102).
