Prerequisite: Math 1432 (Calculus II).
Grading. There will be homeworks, three tests and the final. The
final is comprehensive and compulsory. The course grade is approximately
based on a total score of 600 points (100 points for the homeworks, 100
points for each test, 200 points for the final).
There will be no make-ups for the missed tests, unless there is a very serious reason. In such a situation, I expect to be notified as soon as it is reasonably possible.
Late homeworks will receive a 20% penalty. The lowest two homework scores will be dropped.
Please bring your student ID to all exams. The date of the tests will be announced in class. The final is scheduled for Monday, May 10, 8-11 a.m.
You can drop with a W until the last day to drop the course. Incompletes are given only in unusual circumstances, and never just to prevent a bad grade.
Homeworks. Homework problems will be assigned each week in class.
Homeworks are due Wednesday, and will be returned the following Monday.
Help, etc. In order to learn the material and do well on exams you
should solve the assigned problems. Try to work the problems by yourself,
or together with your colleagues. You are encouraged to form study groups.
If you have difficulties, ask questions in class (this helps
everyone) or come to see me.
You may also receive help from the Learning Support Services, 321 SW, phone X35411, http://www.las.uh.edu/LSS/, and from Mathlab, 222 Garrison Gym.
Please also take advantage of the office hours offered by the TA and myself.
Please try to get help as soon as you feel lost!
