Smooth parametric dependence
in the semiclassical limit of completely integrable pde's
using the Riemann-Hilbert approach.

April 18, 2014
3-4 PM, 646 PGH

Abstract

In this talk we will discuss semiclassical limit of completely integrable nonlinear pde's (KdV, NLS, sine-Gordon). Our main focus will be a one dimensional focusing Nonlinear Schroedinger equation with cubic nonlinearity in the semiclassical limit. For this completely integrable system, the inverse scattering for the underlying linear non-selfadjoint Zakharov-Shabat system could be done using the Riemann-Hilbert problem (RHP) method. We will discuss parameter dependence of scalar RHPs and generalize the result for a wider class of general scalar RHPs. Joint work with S.Venakides.
