Tuesday Lessons: Each Tuesday from 5:00-6:00PM, CHAMP high school students come to the University of Houston campus for an hour-and-a-half session in which an instructor presents a mathematics lesson. The lessons are designed to foster interaction through hands-on activities and discovery-based learning. Students frequently break into groups of 2 or 3 to work on problems and explore topics, and there are several professors, UH graduate students, and UH undergraduate who serve as facilitators to help with the activities. In addition to the lessons, we also sometimes take field trips (e.g., to a Robotics lab) to show the students how math can be used in real-world situations or careers in industry.

Thursday Tutoring: Each Thursday from 5:00-6:00PM, CHAMP high school students come to the University of Houston campus for math tutoring. The tutoring is staffed by volunteers, most of whom are UH students. We welcome anyone who would like to volunteer to tutor, and we receive a large number of volunteers from the UH Chapter of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS), the UH Chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), and teachHOUSTON.
