The Information below is intended for UH Math staff and faculty.  Although this information may be useful to others, requests for help from the Administrators is only supported for UH staff and faculty.  Please do not email the Administrators unless you are working for the UH Math Department.

Requests for Hardware and/or Software

If you need maintenance for your issued equipment, please visit this page.

Only Faculty and certain full-time Staff may request software and/or hardware for their own use, or for their assistants, which is necessary to perform their duties.   Please limit each request to a single person and be sure to include the following:

Who List the full proper name of the person that need the equipment.  Also, include their official UH email address, Peoplesoft ID number and a home address and a phone number.
What List the items you are requesting, such as a desktop or laptop PC.
Include any peripherals, such as writing tablets, mice, keyboard, etc...
Also include any software that is not installed by default.  See this software page for a list of software that is installed by default.
When Give the date when you want the equipment issued by (not just next week or the beginning of the semester).  If no date is given, it will move the the bottom of the priority list
How Long Give the length of time the equipment should be loaned out for.  For graders, this is typically a semester.  For Staff and Faculty this is usually annual.

The following is a good example of a proper request.

To request equipment and/or software:

You must be a UH faculty or full-time staff.  Please send one email request per person.

  1. If you use an email client (like Outlook, Thunderbird, Apple mail, etc...), click this link: Request Equipment and it will start a proper email automatically for you.  Just change the text "[provide name]" with the name of the person you are requesting the equipment for.
  2. If you use web-based email (in your browser: Firefox, Chrome, IE or Edge), login to to your webmail and:

    Send a new email to: ude.hu.htam@pleh
    Change the subject to: Equipment Request for [provide name]

All equipment must be signed for in order to follow University procedures.

The minimum amount of time required for requests, depends on the following:

Remember that this is the minimum amount of time.  If we have to order the requested software/hardware, then it can take days or weeks longer, depending on the manufacturer and shipping times.

If we are to purchase software and/or hardware, you must also provide the necessary funding information, such as the purpose/benefit statement.

If the request is for a desktop PC in the department, then please include your schedule for the next few days so the work on the PC will not interfere with your schedule.
