Airports

There are two airports serving the city of Houston.
  • George Bush Intercontinental Airport (Airport Code: IAH). This is the main airport serving Houston, and it is approximately 20 miles north of the University of Houston. Although this airport is further from the University of Houston than Hobby, you might (depending on where you are coming from) find that flights to it are significantly cheaper than to Hobby.

  • William P. Hobby Airport (Airport Code: HOU). This is a smaller airport located approximately 6 miles south of the University of Houston. If you can find a reasonably priced ticket, this airport is closer to the conference location than IAH.
If you are a speaker that is being reimbursed for your flight, you must travel on a U.S. Flag Carrier and provide us with a receipt.

Transportation from the Airport to the University of Houston

It is possible to use Lyft (approximately $23-$33 one-way from IAH to UH, $6-$13 one-way from Hobby to UH), Uber (approximately $40 one-way from IAH, $20 one-way from Hobby) or one of the many cabs available at the airport (approximately $80 one-way from IAH, $40 one-way from Hobby). If using Lyft, Uber, or a Cab and staying at the UH Hilton, make sure your driver is aware you want to go to the "University of Houston Hilton on the UH campus" and not the "Downtown Hilton".

A less expensive option is to book with the SuperShuttle (approximately $50 for a round-trip, shared-ride van between IAH and University of Houston, and approximately $35 for a round-trip, shared-ride van between Hobby and University of Houston). If you are a speaker that is being reimbursed for travel, we ask that you use the SuperShuttle, and we also need a copy of the receipt in order to reimburse you.
