Our AMS Graduate Chapter encourages and supports mathematics students through the following methods:

Informing and Educating

We provide graduate students with knowledge and skills useful for completing their degrees and pursuing success in their future careers. We seek to inform and educate graduate students on all aspects of mathematics, both as a subject and a profession. We also publicize opportunities and raise awareness of issues related to mathematics and professional development.

Organizing Events

We organize various professional and social activities where participants can learn and discuss mathematics, share ideas, and develop skills. These events also help to prepare graduate students for jobs in academia, industry, and government. Our sponsored activities include presentations, workshops, learning seminars, and panel discussions, as well as social get-togethers and networking opportunities.

Promoting Interaction

We foster a sense of community in our department and discipline. Our events and activities not only train graduate students to be the next generation of mathematicians, they also facilitate interaction among faculty, graduate students, undergraduates, and people outside our department. We provide a welcoming environment, and our activities and events are open to everyone.
