You are eligible to become a member of Pi Mu Epsilon if you are a candidate for an undergraduate degree at the University of Houston and meet ALL of the following three requirements:
  1. You have completed at least the equivalent of two semesters of calculus and two additional courses in mathematics, at or above the calculus level, all of which lead to the fulfillment of the requirements for a major in the mathematical sciences.
  2. Your overall GPA is 3.0 or higher.
  3. Your GPA in just your math classes is 3.0 or higher.

If you are a transfer student to UH, all of your past courses and grades taken at post-secondary institutions count towards the computation of your overall GPA and your math GPA.

Each semester, we send out an email to all math students inviting those who are eligible for membership to apply. If you have not received this email in the past, or wish to be on the next email we send out, please contact the PME Faculty Advisor.

Joining Pi Mu Epsilon

To become a member of the national Pi Mu Epsilon society, there is a one-time fee of $30 for a lifetime membership. As part of your membership, you receive the following
  1. You are a member for life and never have to pay another membership fee for PME.
  2. You receive a one year subscription to the Pi Mu Epsilon Journal.
  3. You receive a membership certificate suitable for framing.
We typically give out the certificates at an induction ceremony that we hold each semester. At the time you pay your $30 membership fee, you also have the option of purchasing additional material: Honor Cords for Graduation ($10), a PME Key-Pin ($20), or a PME T-Shirt ($10). Members who do not purchase items at the time they join can also purchase items from the PME Merchandise Page at any time.
